Past Times

Musik: Père Lachaise
Text: Norbert Brandenburg

There are kings and there are queens,
There are vagabonds and there are thieves,
There are flowers and there are trees,
There are mountains and there are seas,

There are cats and there are tigers,
There are flies and there are spiders,
There's a car and there's a street,
There's a place where people meet.

Do you see we are talking about life
And past times will change when we´ll arrive.

I see you laughing, I see you crying,
I see you marching, l see you dying

You see workers, who laugh.
You see birds, which fly up above,
You see animals out in the field,
You see people without any shield,

You see buildings which reach the sky„
You see clouds passing them by,
You see the sun burning the l and,
You see the water, reaching the sand

Do you see we are talking about life
And past times will change when we'll arrive.

I see you laughing, I see you crying,
I see you marching, l see you dying

You hate men with more money,
Colored people you can't find them funny;
You hate women with more success,
The radical rabble know your address,

But life will go on without your name,
The time will heal all things and pain,
Nobody remembers your plentiful deed.
All people are happy when they meet.

Do you see we are talking about life
And past times will change when we'll arrive.

I see you laughing, l see you crying.
I see you marching, I see you dying.
